  1. Okay, I'm in 8th grade not high school. But there sorta the same thing (because I'm new for 8th grade)

First, be yourself. Don't dress into clothes you don't feel comfortable in. For the first day i suppose you should wear something comfy so people see you as in "not a trying hard person" Don't wear to much "bling" you don't want people thinking your conceited and TOO RICH.

Second, your lunch. Well if your buying lunch then your okay, if your packing make sure you want things that U want. If you still eat like those candy's or something childish DONT BE AFRAID TO TAKE IT OUT. because some people may actually like them, and that'll bring a crowd toward you.

Thrid, walking around. Dont shrug alot. Just walk perfect well not too perfect but dont look lazy, because first impressions do make a difference.

    I hope i helped! >.<

  2. okay ya its seems pretty scary

the first day will be crazy because everybody

trying to find classes but don't be scared everybody is afraid because its just like when you enter middle school you know scary because you are the underdogs.

    here's a few tips-

    be nice to everyone

    don't procrastinate (sp?)

keep everything organize (it will get messy if you don't)

    listen in class

do homework but make times for friends

maybe get into a club or sport to have fun and make friends

keep your locker organize (trust me)

keep a good reputation (don't be known as a s**t, *****,etc)

but most importantly  just be yourself walk in the room with confidence don't be afraid just smile and keep a positive mind

    good luck!

  3. i start school on Monday and I'm going to be a freshmen i cant wait =D

  4. Don't fall for the jocks, the majority of them are jerks so why waste the time

Be as nice as possible, but don't go out of your personal comfort zone, be yourself

Relax, ask people for help if you want, as long as they arent busy and look nice

Start conversations with people if you want, make friends in class

Do as your told and follow the rules, joke around when its the right time, but be serious when you need to, dont flip flop all over..

Stay focused, study as much as you can, but since your only in 9th grade you can relax a little and have fun

Join a sports team, even if your bad, or join school council

Feel free to ask teachers for help as well, go in during breaks or lunch or after school

I don't know how strong or big you are, but stay tough and all, some teachers are a little pedophile-like so keep on your guard...

Your gonna have highs and lows, just stick in there

During the summer: if you can, take classes at a local community college, it'll get you ahead faster

Future advice  (junior and senior years): do the SAT, and study for it by using the official guide or some other good book.

When you go to parties, be careful what you drink and who you are with and what not, no drunk driving and blah blah blah

Listen to your parents! don't always take their advice but the most basic stuff that you always hear is true, and keep in mind, they want the best for you, depending on how your parents are like

    good luck and have fun

  5.    1. Always be on time. Teachers adore students who are on time. On the first day get there early, but not too early. If you get there too early you will be sitting alone for a few minutes, and that is always a bit uncomfortable. If you get there too late there may not be any seats and you will be assigned to sit in one of the remaining, usually not chosen for a particular reason, seats by the teacher.

       2. Maintain your grades. Keep a set amount of time (three hours tops) to do your homework. If you do not do your homework, you are likely to go to summer school, or just fail the class. That said, if you're in a crunch, identify the work you have to do (big reports and papers) and the work that'll require less time and effort. Also, use dead time like early morning bus rides to catch up on assigned reading.

       3. Study. In most high school classes, tests make up a large part of your grade. Study a week before a test, or at least 3 days before a test. instead of at midnight on the night before the test. It honestly helps if you study (even if you don't have a test) for ten minutes a day on the material you covered in class. Exams are a HUGE part of your final mark, and so are tests. So don't take it lightly!

       4. Plan, but don't obsess. High school, no matter what parents and teachers are telling you, comes with a greater margin of error than does college or the working world. Acknowledge that, but don't abuse it. Colleges may admit you because you have a perfect 4.0 or because you can play the flute or because of an independent project you did or because you can catch a football. Play to your strengths when planning extracurriculars.

       5. Balance work and school. You'll probably have to work. Look for a job that'll look good on a resume even if it's less than substantive. Most people know "intern" is code for "c**p work" but pay your dues anyway. Plus, if you can get a job that's as-needed duties, you can do your schoolwork there.

       6. Find an outlet that won't give you cancer, lead to you committing a crime or give you an STD. Everyone feels confused and alone at times - express that via writing, music, journals, drama club, spontaneous dances, primal screaming, etc.

       7. Make friends with diverse groups of people. Everybody has something to contribute to you. Don't sacrifice your grades, but have fun, both in school and out of it.

       8. Sitting in the cafeteria can be the hardest part of being social. It's hard, if not impossible to get through high school successfully without friends. Find people who you get along with, people who appreciate you for who you are, and who improve your overall life performance. These people will make you feel better about life, and get you through school.

       9. Look Your Best. Shower every night/day and please apply deodorant if needed. Find your own style of clothes, something comfortable and efficient. Don't wear clothes that will get you kicked out of school, thats just a waste of time.

      10. Join or Start a Club. You'll meet new people, and won't feel left out. It's important not to be pressured into a club however, just join or start one if you have a particular interest.

      11. Remember your friends. High school is four years long and sometimes they are the only things that make it worth it.

      12. Get help if you are being bullied. If someone starts to give you a hard time confront them as soon as possible. Don't just run away or put up with them but lay down your boundaries. If you don't then it will be long four years.

      13. Smile. Something small like this may not seem like much, but it can bring changes in other peoples' attitudes right and left. It will also make you appear to be a friendly, happy, fun and warm person. You'll have some new friends soon enough if you keep a good attitude.

      14. Stay focused. To succeed in high school, you have to have the right mind frame. Think of it like this: work hard now and reap the benefits later. Don't let friends lead you off the path to success.

      15. Instill discipline. Try to be always present in school. Use what absences you take for very important reasons (truly sick, doctor's appointments, etc.). Always be on time for school. While your teacher is teaching, keep quiet, unless he is asking for answers. If your friend wants to talk to you in class, ask them to wait until later.

      16. Organize your study. Take notes if you think your teacher is teaching something meaningful for your exams. Also, have a plan for what you are going to study. Include all vacations, breaks and movie outings and what not into your study plan. It is best if you could touch on every subject every day.

      17. Know your strengths. If you are good in Mathematics, try to get the best grade for math on exams. So even if you aren't that professional in Chemistry, your math results will balance out.

      18. Fit in. While fitting in isn't the most important thing during high school, it can be important if you want to ask questions

  6. Okay.. highschool.. so overrated! I only have one year of experience but that seems pretty helpful because i know what it's like to be a freshman.

Okay seniors.. not all that mighty, but let them act like they rule the school, it's their last year - after all. Initiation .. im not sure if you have that at your school, but during that day/week. Seniors do rule. Let them do w/e they wish, unless of course it is harmful to you! Then ask for help. Best thing to say about seniors, stay out of their way unless they befriend you!

Another thing to know about.. Lunch. There are always going to be "budgers", "line cutters", or whatever you call them. The best thing to do is just let them "budge". By telling, it just gets the older classman to have a hate for you. Just let them be, you'll get your lunch eventually! okay now.. picking a spot to sit! Steer clear of the senior/junior, and even sophomores "claimed" spots! Don't bother trying to take them, it's not worth it; just find your own little spot with your group of friends :]

Freshman Fear? don't even worry. It's not bad being  a freshman, in fact i enjoyed it! Don't worry about what other people will think of you, and just be yourself. You need to be yourself, so other people's first impression will be the real you! And don't worry about upper classmen, they more than likely will pay no attention to you.

Study Hall: Study hall is there for your use and make the best of it! Though there may be some juicy conversation going on at one table.. homework should be done first, so you dont stress about getting done in other classes! Make sure you know your study hall teacher's rules! If you can talk, or stop at your locker, bathroom time?, etc. If you have nothing to do and you cannot talk to other people, Read a book, draw, write a note [if you wont get caught], etc.

Classes: Know your classroom rules, or keep any sheets of rules, if your teachers give them to you! Get to know your teachers, and what they like and don't like. Never start an argument with a teacher! Get your homework done!! You have no idea how many kids in my class failed/ about failed a class for just not doing assignments! Tests, sometimes it is necessary to study for a test, other times it is not. If you feel that you know all the information, than you dont HAVE to study. Exams and Big Tests NEED study time! Just stick to what you feel is right. Extra Credit.. do ALL the extra credit you can get! even if you have an A or B ! it will help.

Confidence: Honestly, just believe in yourself, and dont get pressured into anything by your peers that you dont want to do. One time i was with my friends at a party and they were allll drinking alcohol! but I , but i not getting caught up in peer pressure, said no, and havent drank alcohol yet! Highschool can bring out the bad in people, and you just have to have confidence in yourself and everything you do! for if you dont, then what do you stand for? Wear what you wanna wear, and BE YOU! Have confidence in what you wear, what you say, how you do everything, and dont let anybody bring you down or change you!

Dances: What to wear is always comes up! Different dances call for different wardrobe. Talk to your friends, friendly upperclassmen, a trusted teacher, etc about the dance. Whether it's formal or not. Prom is a big one! It is ALWAYS formal! Dresses are worn by almost everygirl and boys even rent tuxes. Don't worry about going out and buying a new expensive dress your freshman year, use one from a wedding or other event, or buy a cheap one! Other dances during the year can be either or, so talk to people who've been to these dances before. It is never fun arriving alone, so find a group of friends or even ask a "special someone" to go with you! and at the dances don't be a wallflower! Dance like no one is watching, and get into moment! I don't like dancing in front of other people, but at my school dances, i dont care who's watching or who's next to me. i let it all out!

Extracurriculars: Dont be shy and try out/join something you're interested in! There are plenty of activities you could join: Student Council, Drama Club, Class Representative, Forensics, Wrestling, Basketball, Cheerleading, Track, Band, Choir, Swing Choir, a Play at your school, Cross Country, Volleyball, Business Group, Chess Club, etc! Join something, it promotes friendships and looks GREAT! on your college application!!

    A few extra tips:

    - Dont let friends bring you down. Sometimes people you think are your friends arent really; everybody loses friends! Though If this friend is dear to you, dont let go of them, try and rekindle your friendship!

    - Take a foreign language! many colleges require two years of a single foreign language! Ex: Spanish, French, German, etc. [whatever is up to offer]

    - Dont try and impress people, Be you and do what YOU want!

    - Stay social, and keep up with what's going on in your school! Don't block out people!

    - We all fake sick, but dont d

  7. it really isn't that bad. the worst part of it is the boys, watching them fight, and grades. the rest of the stuff you here on tv is a bunch of lies. ps, trying to be popular is going to make you go down on the popular scale. so will fallowing fads. not trying and sticking with your own thing will rise you to the top my freshman friend!

  8. first of all dont worry! i know its easy to say, but the first day wont be as bad as it seems. I remember worrying before i went for the first time, i actually had a good day, everyones new to each other it can be a good day.

Also its not going to be a hard day, youll just be introduced there so as to break you in gently.

Take your time, try and relax, and good luck i hope you do well!

  9. its nothing to be afraid about i was a freshman last year and it was so easy.

just when you go to your classes and your teachers are talking about what your gonna be learning and things like that ask questions and be attentive so theyll know your a good student and they will automatically like you.

talk to your friedns to see what classes you have together. even people you only sometimes talk to so your not alone in a class.

make sure to be prepared to your classes.do your homework and be on time.

highschool isnt that much different from middle school only bigger adn the students are older. youll get the hang of it really quick.

youll always have your friends  there with you. which also makes it alot easier.

  10. You want some HighSchool info?? well i'll see wht i can get XD...

Dont TRY to act cool around any upperclassman...they usualy wont think you are and hate you and think your annoying(this isnt true for every one). Dont brag about any sexual experiences(if any), it makes you look like an easy freshman w***e xP. Dont brag about the number of seniors you know. dont try to argue to upper class men wiether ur stupid or not, they dont care. respect ur teachers, getting written up everyday and purposely failing really dosnt look cool. Dont think you'll have much privacy, once you're there your business is everyone's business. Dont brag about how smart you are and all the classes ur taking. Oo dont try to sit at upperclassmen lunch tables. you will be picked up and thrown onto the floor! dont try to say your older than you really are, the way you walk, dress & talk will determine your matureaty level. Dont crowd the halls cause upperclassmen can (and prolly will) push you out of the way.

OTherwise..its pretty much ez from there, just be yourself and dont think about trying to be someone your not,

ohh and btw its not as intimidating as most ppl think it is.

    good luck

  11. High School is a BLAST! last year was my first year of it. I was so scared going in, so nervous, it felt like my confidence has drained out of me. If it wasnt for my cool and confident best friend's reassuarances that i would be okay, i would have stayed in bed. and the first few days were confusing. it was weird to be in such a big place, with a bunch of new people. but i enjoyed it after those first few days. it felt good when i could find my classes by myself, and when i made new friends in my classes. I realized that i liked most of my teachers, they challenged me in a way my other teachers hadnt. and sure, there were those skeevy gross guys trying to touch you in the hallway, but if you get one of your guy friends to walk with you, that doesnt happen much. but still....its fun. its like your finally your own person. you can join clubs and sports, and its fun! when you hear your name over the loudspeaker saying you set a new record in track and field, it feels great. when you see your name in the yearbook saying you are an outstanding student and athlete, it feels good. high school is hard work. but if you work hard, you have so many good, life changing experiences. with hard work comes fun. you make so many new friends, and do so many new things. its  a unique place. but its so much fun. you will be nervous, but dont worry, most people are willing to help you out. dont worry. you'll do okay. just enjoy yourself.

  12. Ok........well.....highschool is definitaley not like middle school....

you don't have a homeroom.....where you stay together with the same people.......

Highschool is a lot tougher w/ homework and everything.....and the teacher doesn't put up with a lot of things kids dish out to them......

You'll have a lot of variety of classes...and in High school you can pick them, which also means you'll have a lot of teacher.......so pick classes that your interested in.........

Also, you'll meet a lot of people from different grades, like sophmores, juniors, and even seniors.....so don't be intimidated....but don't act all cool and braggish that you know upper-classmen.....cause seriously, it annoys people.......

But i think the most important thing is that you need to make good friends......like ones you actually like to hang out w/ because you'll probably be friends w/ those people throughout all of highschool......

    Have fun, freshy

  13. ok I'm a sophomore now so i know allot about being and dealing with freshmen. first off start the day by looking for your friends and seeing if you have any classes together. after you do that look for your first class if you can not find your first class ask either an upper class men or a teacher. us upperclassmen find joy in helping freshmen. during lunch let the upper class men have a few minutes to pick out there seat then take yours. if upperclassmen come in and look at you funny then you probably need to move they probably have been sitting there for a few years now. if a upperclassmen talks about you loudly and passably even threatens to eat you, you might wanna move. but also try to make friends with the upper class men try to sit with people that remind you of you. most of all just have fun
