I'm 19... have a four and a half month old which is probably mostly the reason of me being soooo tired, but I recently went to my doctor and he looked over blood work i just had done and said that I have really low iron level...not anemic yet but low and prescribed me a prescription iron pill. I haven't had then chance to fill it yet but will obviously..just wondering if that could have any play in me being so fatigued??

  2. Yes. Even though you are not technically anemic, low iron levels are a cause of exhaustion. On top of that you are a new mommy! Being pregnant for 9 months and giving birth can leave a body exhausted. Having the baby and adjusting to caring for this wonderful little one, is even more exhausting! Give yourself time, stay on the iron, and take naps when able and hopefully you will feel better. Just remember, until the baby starts sleeping through the night, you may still feel tired for some time yet and this is perfectly normal! Congratulations on becoming a mommy!

  3. Yes, low iron will make you tired because that is what helps your blood carry the energy to your cells.  If you have low red blood cells (iron) then you have less energy. Once you take the iron you will  start feeling better. Good luck Mom.
