  1. The cost of an individual health insurance plan is based on your age, gender, your health, your weight, whether you are a smoker or a non-smoker and the plan benefits.

Since insurance is regulated by each individual state, contact an agent who sells individual health insurance plans in your state or contact some companies on your own.

The least expensive plans will have a high annual deductible. In other words, you might chose a plan that doesn't pay any benefits until you have incurred medical expenses of $1000, $2000 or even $5000. It would be your choice based on how much you want to pay per month. If you chose a plan that pays only for generic drugs and doesn't pay for brand name drugs, that will be less expensive than a plan that pays for brand name drugs.

If you are in reasonable good health now, it is time to purchase an individual health insurance plan. However, if you are significantly overweight and a smoker or have other health problems you could have a tough time.

There are several good insurance companies who sell individual health insurance policies just be sure to understand what you are buying. It is best to buy from a company whose name you recognize such as Anthem, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna, United Health Care etc.

Avoid companies that have only been in business for a few years.

  2. There is no such thing as a good AND cheap healthplan.  Today, you get what you pay for with health insurance.  I see many families who opt for their health insurance based on how much the monthly payment is.  Then, they end up owing thousands of dollars for care received because their deductible is $5000 and their inexpensive plan doesn't cover well visits for them or the kids.  I assume group coverage is not an option for you...check with Anthem BCBS-they have many plans-perhaps one will meet your needs.  Just remember, the higher the monthly payment, the better the coverage!

  3. it depends on what your looking for.... when i was hospitalize for 4 days the bill for it was $48k i almost died... but my insurance paid all but 1500 of it because that is how high my deductable was. there are alot of plans out there many around $120 monthly that are decent. there are places online that you can enter your info.. or even fake info just to look at what the insurance companies would give you. when you look at them they will variy so greatly that you should be able to find one that is accepted to you... but you can't really ask us since we don't know exactly what your willing to pay and are looking for in a plan...

  4. look for a witch doctor!!

  5. As a broker with 27 years of experience, I recommend UnitedHealthcare. They have a catastrophic policy that is reasonably priced and may come close to what your are looking for.

Assurant has some high deductible plans that feature a low price. But...they have a high complaint ratio in some states, so be careful with them.

    I hope this helps.

  6. Vitamin pills

  7. Try AmeriPlan.  $39.95/mo and includes medical, hospital advocacy, dental, vision, Rx, chiropractic.  It's not insurance - it's discount benefit plans/programs but it's inexpensive and the savings are great!

  8. Scott and White has a pretty decent health plan!! That is if you have one! If not one like St. Joseph....or Hermann

  9. a health PLAN is not the same thing as health INSURANCE.

Health INSURANCE is what covers hospitals, doctors, and prescriptions.

So, I assume you're looking for health INSURANCE, which at your age, is NOT CHEAP, even if you're in spectacular health .  Maybe, $500 a month.  At best.

Your best bet, is to get coverage through a group plan, through your employer.

  10. There is no one best company and with health insurance you get what you pay for.

When you shop for a new car you have a choice between the basic low end model with no options, a fully loaded luxury car, or something in between. Health insurance is the same. If you shop for the cheapest you'll get the basic low end model which may or may not have the benefits and coverage you are looking for. Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget and can explain what you get and, more importantly, what you won't get with the plan. There is no extra charge using an agent.

Do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy, cause you to be declined, or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process.
