  1. Maybe you've not grown up properly yet.

Did something happen in your childhood that you haven't gotten over yet ?

Enjoy your hobby, but if theres an underlying incident, talk about it and get help....

And try not to put your hobby before your wife, she deserves better than that !

  2. Well, I enjoy modeling too so I guess I'm also a nerd.  Haha, naw, it's a fun enjoyable, hobby that takes quite a bit of artistic skill if one is interested in becoming more involved with it like constructing entire layouts and such.  My advice is to just have fun with your models and continue on with the hobby! :o)

  3. each to their own

  4. If it brings you happyness and doesnt affect your family life, then no. All people are different and thats what makes this world interesting to live in. There are groups and organisations for every interest you can think of including model trains. Ask your wife what she would rather you be doing with your spare time. Marriage is about tolerance and understanding for the person you are with. I bet shes not so perfect herself.

  5. She may be on the right track.  You should give out a signal that she should keep her station in life.  She may be whistling down the wind.  Don't  get too steamed up about it. Stoke up the fires of love instead and go to bed where you will both become sleepers.   Happy Chugging

  6. yes u r, model trains are for kids not adults

  7. No, of course not! Everyone has a hobby, what about all these people (myself included) answering random questions from strangers here on Yahoo? Very odd when you think about it :)

  8. Nah,  lots of people like model  trains, so what, whatever rocks your boat I say.

  9. no, so what if thats what you like. some grown women collect baby dolls, so what.

at least you dont collect girlfriends.........

  10. you sound a bit geeky to me but if you get off on model trains then thats your perogative, i spose. don't worry about wifey, she probably likes something you don't like, so fairs, fair.

  11. yes, youre a nerd, and so are millions of others... train, planes and automobiles... we all love em, and were all nerds...

better a nerd than a drunken football supporter

  12. Yep, but I guess your wife is like me, and has a soft spot for nerds!

  13. no. it's normal. perhaps, some adults still play with toys.

  14. Everyone needs a hobby.

  15. YOU are not - it's those other model railroad geeks who damage the image.

Why not make an agreement with your wife that she can have a hobby or interest that you think is silly and that you'll each honor that side of yourselves?

  16. yes your a nerd

  17. NO NO NO, they are lovely and relaxing to watch. I think people chasing a little white ball around a golf course are nerds and also people who watch cricket - H E L L O!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whats that all about????

To sum up enjoy what you enjoy not what others enjoy!

  18. lol, you're not a nerd. I play video games all the time... well, You could be a nerd in a good way.

  19. no, its a hobby. its better than being in the streets and having your attention on things u shouldnt

  20. No you are not a nerd. I would love to have my own model railway, but as I live in a 1 bedroomed flat & I collect book s(first editions  signed by the authors) + Stamps, & Coins. I do not have the space to put it all...In fact I am probably more the NERD!!!

  21. Well I think that playing with toy trains is pretty nerdy, the same as the adults that play with remote controlled cars and boats, I stopped playing with toys when I was about twelve years old, my brother takes his model plane out to fly it and he gets most annoyed when I say that he is going out to play, lets face it that is what all of you are doing, if you are older than 16 other things should interest you by now.

    Chris.

  22. It depends if you are concerned by the fact that Hornby's model Flying Scotsman is missing the 4 bolts from the corners of the nameplates.  If that bothers you, then yes, you are in deed a nerd.

If, however, it's all about lining up trains and making them lap as fast as possible, and to get as many carriages as possible to move behind an intercity 125 (my record is in the forties) then that's a bit better.
