Question:

AM loop antena not enough?

i just purchased a SONY shelf unit to listen to CDs, ipod and radio and it has an AM loop antena but I don't seem to receive any AM signal. What can be wrong? no signal in my apartment? do i need a better AM antena?

please let me know if you had similar experiences. thanks.

  1. Are you in a concrete, or large metal builting?  Buildings of concrete and metal can shield AM radio signals or cause poor reception.

    Do you get better reception if you put the radio near a window?

    Check to see if it has a connector jack to accomodate an external antenna, which may be necessary.  If it does, talk to the Sony dealer to see if they sell the external antenna or will suggest one for you.
