AMA series rider Ben Bostrom to ride for LCR Honda at Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
Michael Jordan Motorsports rider in AMA series, Ben Bostrom will ride LCR Honda’s RCV at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, California.
The American rider will enjoy his wild card debut in the U.S. MotoGP event being held this weekend on July 24, 2011.
MJM rider Ben Bostrom said, “Words can't express how excited I am to get this amazing opportunity to race on my home track in front of the whole world. I have to thank Michael Jordan Motorsports and American Suzuki for allowing this to happen. The collaboration
between Lucio, LCR and the MJM team has been terrific.”
The American rider will ride alongside Toni Elias aboard the Spaniard’s secondary RCV. The MJM team is owned by NBA star Michael Jordan. The MJM team uses Suzuki bikes in the championship. Bostrom has also raced in World Superbike Championship. The key attraction
for the LCR team is that he has won the WSBK round at Laguna Seca in 1999.
The American rider also added that his effort will be to stay close to the top riders. After the Laguna Seca MotoGP event, Bostrom will return to his MJM Suzuki to resume his AMA action.
LCR Honda Team Boss, Lucio Cecchinello said, “The U.S. GP takes place at one of the most spectacular racetracks in the world. The interest of the American fans of this sport grows more and more from year to year and the spectators are always very enthusiastic.”
The team boss also stated that the team decided to organise an event for their American fans looking at the fact that LCR carries American-based sponsors.
The LCR Honda team has a strong relation with the MJM team so the team decided to pick one of their best native riders, Ben Bostrom.
Cecchinello further explained Bostrom will be racing for MJM in the AMA Superbike series as his primary focus along with his appearance in the MotoGP event.
In the end, the LCR team owner was grateful to the MJM team for providing them with Bostrom on their request.
