AMA series rider Elena Myers will lap aboard Rizla Suzuki GSVR at Indianapolis – MotoGP news
AMA SuperSport series racer Elena Myers will ride aboard Rizla Suzuki’s GSV-R during the MotoGP visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 12th MotoGP event, Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix is due on August 28, 2011.
Myers said, “Words cannot describe how excited I am to ride the Suzuki GSV-R at Indy during the MotoGP weekend this year. We had talked about it last year, but things didn't work out, so here's a big thanks to everyone involved for making this possible.”
Myers will run few laps at the IMS ahead of the Indy GP. The young American rider has shown her potential in the AMA series. In the 2010, she scored a win in the series during an event at Infineon Raceway. The victory marked her as the first woman to score
a race win in the AMA Pro series. She finished her season as a runner up in West Division SuperSport rankings.
In the 2010 MotoGP season, Myers was scheduled to ride Suzuki GSV-R during the IMS round. However, it was not possible to complete the commitment.
While commenting on her last year’s stunt ride, Myers said that getting aboard the bike instantly gave her a good feel. She further said running few laps on a MotoGP prototype will be thrilling. She is anxiously waiting for the Indy race weekend.
Denning said, “We are delighted to be able to give Elena this opportunity to get some understanding of how does Suzuki's MotoGP bike feels and operates. She is a very talented racer - not 'for a girl' - she's just fast, full-stop!”
Denning further added that the MotoGP class is the top rank in the motorcycle racing world and there not many riders who have got a chance to ride a Suzuki MotoGP prototype.
In addition to the team’s prime rider, Alvaro Bautista, only John Hopkins and Aoki have been aboard the 2011 Suzuki MotoGP bike. Now she will be the only female rider to ride the Suzuki GSV-R.
The Suzuki team is looking forward to let her enjoy the best opportunity available. As a matter of fact, she will be the only female rider to ride a 800cc MotoGP prototype.
