AMBULANCE.... why this word ambulance written in the reverse manner?

A fast moving vehicle in order to save the patients who needs urgent treatment .. ambulance. ok.. i find the word written correctly in the back side whereas it is found written in the reverse manner in front side.. is there any reason for it?
