Considering a new laptop and this 2.2GHz processor is one of my options.

Is it any good for e-mail/iplayer/big spreadsheets or am i better going for a 1.8GHz intel core 2 duo version?

  1. Dual core is by far more useful for multi-tasking. The price difference between dual core laptops and single core is negligable so your better off with the dual core. As its enevitable that software and OS's become more demanding over time, and since laptops aren't easily upgradable your best bet is to buy the best processor you can afford.
