Well I'm looking to buy a computer for college, not really going to use the laptop for gaming, just surfing the net, doing hw, college stuff....I'm leaning towards AMD because its cheaper. Don't really know what the differences are....what do you guys think?

  1. For basic stuff like you're going to be doing, either one will be fine.

Intel does run a little faster but nothing you would notice doing what you do.

  2. amd is cheaper but intel holds the performance lead right now.

If you (like your statement indictated) want the laptop for nothing but school work, internet surfing, etc... then an AMD processor is fine because processors arent what you need to be worrying about

you need to make sure your laptop has atleast 2 gigs of memory. Also try to make sure its not slow DDR2 like 667. Aim for DDR2 800.... especially if you're going to use VISTA premium and Itunes both memory hogs.

  3. For Basic things AMD is great  its massively under-rated and to most people unknown. Intel is widely more promoted to the public but AMD is just as good.

  4. Just surfing the internet and using some Office programs doesn't required any much of powerful. It's depend on your budget. It doesn't matter about the AMD or INTEL. They all work fine. One thing though, Inrtel has the new 2 Duo core Technology. it's help you open PDF reader, working with EXCEL or Word, running internet brownser and also let you listening to music all at the same time and not crashing.

  5. i would suggest an intel, just because right now amds are not as good as intels if they have the same clock speed, (other factors come into play also) eg, t5750 compared to ql-60 or tl-60.... only the RM-70 can compare to the T5750 in terms of raw power.

    Also, the t5750 runs cooler
