  1. Of course in the case of car audio and audio in general you still need to take into account the efficiency of your amplifier. No amp is 100% efficient, so for a truly accurate answer you would need to factor in the efficiency of the amplifier.

The formula's that have been posted don't take this into account, they assume a 100% efficiency.

  2. current X voltage = watt

    I X V= W

    1ampere X 1 volt= 1 watt

  3. V=I*R Voltage = Current Multiplied by Resistance

Power (Watts) = Current multiplied Voltage

    Therefore P= 1 Amp * 12 Volts  = 12 Watts.

Without the voltage you cannot find the power dissipated for a unit of current. It is directly proportional, so 10 Amps @ 12 Volts will equal 120Watts. etc.

  4. Ampere is the measurement or the unit of current.

    If V is the voltage then E x V = Watts.

Please pick up a basic Electricity book at the library and read it between the lines.

As a rule all this info on E,V and  Watts is on the unit's Name tag or is on the unit itself (stamped), please look for it.

  5. yes. you have three variables

    U - Voltage marked like V

    I - current marked like A

R - resistance marked like Ohm

To count one of these, you should have the next two of them.

    U/R = I

so if you know, what speaker you have (4Ohm for example) and you put 1Amp of current on it, The voltage will be 4Volts.

    I * U = P (marked like Watt)

so If you have 4Ohm speaker powered by 4Volts, 1A current is going trough the voice coil, it takes 4Watts

The amount of watt number is not all you need to know. because for speaker "how many watts" doesn't mean "how loud". you have to count with sensitivity of the speaker.

// I thought Speaker efficiency, but you are right. all efficiencies :D

  6. amps X volts = watts

  7. 1Amp=12 watts/12volts

  8. If you're talking car audio, your question really doesn't make sense. Are you talking about the number of amps being fed into the amplifier? Or are you talking about the number of amps the amplifier feeds to the speakers?

If you're asking something like "how many amps will an 80 watt amplifier draw", the answer is, it will need at least 80/12 amps to produce an 80 watt output.
