So I lost my hamster oh, I'd say three to six months ago. I cried and the likes because, well, he actually liked me and the other way around et cetera et cetera.

My mother saw him in the laundry room this morning, and she said he's fat and looking healthy.

How do I catch him? And I don't want the 'oh he'll come out soon' or 'umm.. put food there' An answer that actually works, please.

And secondly, I have one other hamster right now and they can't share a cage if I catch him. Where should I put him PERMANTENTLY. I have no aqaurium.

  1. We use big glass bottles with food inside because they'll climb in for the food, then can't climb out because the glass is slippery (if the mouth of the bottle is steep enough).

You can buy little rectangle plastic boxes with lids cheap online and at local pet stores, for one hamster it won't be too small. & they have different sizes.

We used them for our mice.

  2. if he's in one room ((and you know which one)) lock him in there so he doesn't get away again. put a box in there with some food and water and maybe he will find it inviting. at night, or whenever he is active. sit quietly in the room and hopefully he will come to the food ((you may have to make a trail to the box of food to make it easier for him)) if he's somewhere that you can get some sort of box in front of him and a stick or something behind him, you can nudge him forward by the stick into the box. and as for somewhere to put him, i would keep him in a box he can't chew out of and then buy him a new cage.

  3. I have dealt with two my hamsters being on the lose. I tried to put food out but that did not work at all. I live in an apartment building and they both went 5 floors below and were eating dog food at a neighbors. Eventually she caught them and one of them was very sick and skinny. I had to get the ferret paste that has lots of vitamins in it. Also had to use childrens pedialyte to get it back from dehydration. It is vital that you catch it soon... I recomend scooping it up in an ice cream bucket. Good Luck! Let me know if u get it.

  4. Do you know where he's hiding? If you do, and it's a place you can reach into, I'd get reach in and take him out. If he loves you as much as you say, he'll be okay with it :D Put him in some sort of box, like a shoe box, until you can buy another cage. If you don't know the place, then you'll have to wait around and see if he pokes his cute little head out again, and then grab him

  5. Well what i would do is hide in the room and wait till he gets out then grab him then ill put him in a cerial box!

  6. I just caught my baby's hamster 2 days ago after a month of him being MIA.Look in all the corners and under the beds...look during the day cause that's when he'll be sleeping.I took a flash light and checked in every nook and cranny and found him under her bed asleep.

I put containers all around him and gently nudged him in,since you don't have a cage u can use a shoebox with holes cut in the lid(make sure he doesn't chew the corners or he'll be gone again, you can also use(sounds crazy)but an ice chest to put him in because he can't climb out and so u don't have to close the lid and lastly you can also (if possible put a divider in the cage you have the hamster in and each half have a hamster then they will get to know each other and then you can remove the divider and they should get along just fine.

    Hope this helps.

Good luck,I love hamsters,my kids have a total of 4.

  7. well first of all put food there and hide in a little spot then when he goes to get the food hurry up and capture him and dont put regular food put some popcorn or sheese that they like more im sure you will catch him.

also, dont put him in a box he can chew through it and make sure that wherever you put him it is safe and has holes

just make sure you keep him somewhere safe and then just try to safe up on money to buy a cage they are only like $15 at your local petstore if you need more info go on this site:

  8. put some food out and he will go to it and when he does catch him. then get a big cardbord box or plastic box to keep hi in till you get another cage

  9. Well first off. Are you sure its your hamster and not some rat. Beause thats a pretty long time for a hamster to live by itself. Dont be surprised if it doesnt rember you if it is your hamster.

A cheap thing is if you have any deep Rubermaid containers Just put him in there. and then drill alot of holes in it for air. Its called a bin cage so you could research it if you wanted to.
