  1. Anthem is one big allegory. You have to look for the metaphors.

Equality (his name is used cynically) discovers a tunnel from a time before this society's rule; the tunnel is a metaphor for a path forward, as in the light at the end of the tunnel. Here he conducts scientific experiments, and eventually discovers (reinvents) electricity. Rand uses electricity in Atlas Shrugged as well - it's loaded with meaning. It is her metaphor for life, the human mind, the individual spirit, consciousness. Specifically, what did he invent? The light bulb - one of the classic metaphors for human intelligence.

The question is about the threat this discovery has to the dystopian society in which Equality lives. Given what you now know of its anti-individualistic culture and the meaning behind Equality's discovery - you should be able to answer the question easily enough.

If you really want a great essay, ask yourself this: why did his attempt to impress the World Council with his discovery fail? (Hint: can a true individual ever successfully seek anyone else's approval?) Good luck!
