ANTI-Patriot Act?

i am doing a debate with my school on the patriot act and i am against it, what would be some of my strong points and how can i win

Shoot, I don't even know enough of the patriot act to give an answer.  Can you tell me something about it, and can you tell me where you got your information.

I would include the millitary comissions act, several executive orders, and the idiotic homegrown terrorist act they are voting on now

be sure to mention how it almost exactly parallels legislature the n**i's enacted directly after they burned the riechstag building down

The biggest issue you would have in finding 'con' arguments regarding the patriot act will be separating fact from the myth.

I have had a upper-division class that covered this act and I discovered that 90% of what people think they know about the act is simply not true.

The biggest difficulty you will have in arguing against the patriot act will be in explaining why certian procedures (roving wiretaps for example) that were approved in the Clinton administration for use against orginized crime suddenly become illegal when President Bush tries to use them against terrorists.

And if you want to argue against the new laws that cover intelligence collection -you really need to be able to identify the issue the laws was intended to adress and suggest an alternative method of resolving that issue.  (More to do with FISA but ths same principle applies.)

Being Patriot in America means to be for the Iraq/Afghan war. Therefore to be for these wars you must be a liar, to want to conceal the truth for why Bush really invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nothing patriot about lieing to the American public.

How can you be against it if you dont  any arguements against it?  Maybe you should review the facts THEN pick a stance.

Add: Wow, and you wonder whats wrong with America? Do note that stuff "like" this has been done many times before in US history. This pales in comparison to the acts that FDR, don't believe I've hear Bush round up all Muslims and throw them into an interment camp. Can't say MY personal liberties have been violated yet, have yours?
