ANYONE KNOW WHAT TO USE IN STEAD of using US dollars in Italy???

I AM GOING TO ITALY FOR A WEDDING NEXT MONTH, I DON'T WANT TO TAKE TONS OF CASH WITH ME. IS THERE A PRE PAID DEBIT CARD OR CHECKS THAT I CAN TAKE WITH ME PREPAID ALREADY IN EURO'S THAT IS NOT GOING TO CHARGE ME ANY FEES TO USE THEM ???

MY BANK IF I USE MY DEBIT CARD CHARGES SOOO MUCH IN FEES!! HELP!!

  1. I read an article last month on a blog, that Capital One does not charge currency exchange fees when you make purchases on their credit card or bank card. Last time I went to Germany I came home to multiple fees that were charged after I made purchases on a card from another bank card. I didn't remember this other times I went. It seems like it is another way for banks to make money.

  2. You are going to run into fees no matter what.

    Take a few hundred euros with you. Get them from your bank.

    Then, use the ATM machine in Italy. Yes, there are fees but usually they are less than exchanging currency.

    Check into the cost of getting travelers checks in euros. may be a cost effective option
