i want to own my own web space -how do i do that? -instead of paying a company to own web space

Register your domain name with a registrar.Some domain names are very cheap less then $2/yr  then get a free hosting service a company that will provide free hosting and emails. eg http://www.serveraustralian.com.au and yahoo.
