1971 Plymouth Duster 340 engine with a 4bbl carb. 727 torqueflight tranny, flowmaster exhaust, basically stock tires in the front and a a little bit bigger of a tire in the back. Fuel Cell. Any advice on making it run faster and perform better? I was looking into 6 pack carbs (3x2) and maybe some wider tires on the back. Anything else that would help. Also no spoiler or scoops on the car currently

  1. Your lucky day buddy, for years MOPAR has published a big book that the go fast guys at mopar have written and you can buy at any mopar performance dealer ( dodge dealership ) got everthing to build a hot blueprinted engine

Got a copy myself, the book is still avalibe or try www.mopar. com

  2. If you're looking for cheap easy hp look no further than n2o. I wouldent go with much more than about a 100hp shot though. As for the suspension check out www.calvertracing.com they have arguably the best traction bars on the market & they also have a split fiberglass mono leaf rear spring setup that will compliment their bars. I put a set of their bars on my 69' amx and went from a 2.2 60ft to a 1.75 60ft while bettering my 1/4 mile from a 12.52 to a 12.22.

  3. get a trick ignition system like msd.  There is no reason to have all that fuel and hardware if your not providing the most powerful spark you can provide.

Nitrous is power in a bottle.  Lots of power cheap but you have the reoccuring cost of the gas and some racing classes don't allow it.

Have you done anything inside the engine?  This is really where all power begins.  If you want to do just a little then look at your rocker arms.  A little longer ratio will increase the lift of your normal cam but be careful of overdoing it as it can also cause interference with the pistons (ei destroy engine).

  4. check out borring out the engine. it will add power without having to get a new engine.you could supercharge it also. you could find a supercharger for a ok price.

  5. how's your suspension? seems you're making good power, now you just have to find a way to keep it connected to the track. depending on your track rules or what type of heat you're in you could also switch to a different compound of tires.

  6. three 2 bbls look cool but LESS HP.......current thinking is...

    1 aluminum intake

    2 aluminum heads

3..higher lift cam and 1/6 rockers [roller rockers if u got $]

4..headers with crossover pipe and true dual exausts

    5 new pointless distrubiter

    go to Jegs.com and Summitracing.com

  7. If you're interested in bracket racing, you want to make the car as consistant as possible, not just faster. If you already have decent horsepower put in a lower geared rear end with a posi or if it's strip only put in a spool. Then concentrate on making the car and yourself do the exact same thing every run to be consistant. In bracket racing you don't have to have the fastest car to win.

  8. Start with the suspension and then go to the motor. On the motor start with a good ignition and go from there.
