AP's of internationally adopted children: Did you know or have you already...?

Requested a Return of Original Documents (USCIS Form G-884) or Request information regarding your child's adoption by using the Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act (USCIS Form G-639)?

If so, how long did it take to get any information?

Wow, I am in Canada, so I don't know if the same rules apply. I will be looking into it tomorrow though.

I haven't heard of this before.  We were given a pretty extensive file.  All of the original notorized court documents and in-country investigations by government officials, original birth certificates, medical reports, etc.  

What information can this form provide?

I believe the timing varies widely by the USCIS office. I've heard of people getting docs returned in 4 weeks and other offices taking nearly a year. Our G-884 was submitted to the Philly USCIS office and I anticipate waiting ~6 months.
