To be an AP State Scholar, do they look at the most tests taken in a single year or your total including previous years?

And what's the typical number a State Scholar takes, particularly in California?

  1. They look at all AP exams ever taken.

I am not sure about California in particular but in general State Scholars seem to have 5s on almost all of the usually twenty-plus exams they take. It's a pretty hard award to get.
