Are they worth the buy? I'm taking AP US this year (school just started) and I want to get at LEAST a 3(4 or 5 would be better) on the final test. On Amazon I found a pack of flash cards that help you prepare,Barron's AP United States History 2008, and Cracking the AP U.S. History Exam, 2008 Edition . Are they really worth it? What are some studying tips that you recommend for success this year?

  1. Don't spend any money yet. About two weeks after you've been in classes, ask your teacher for advice. And, go to the school and public library and see what kind of books they have on AP US History. In history class, follow a person through what happens to him or her, and then how that connects to something and someone else. Teachers usually make comments like "It's really important to remember that....." and you write down a couple of words and then, when you're studying, write more so you have it.

I hope your AP history teacher loves history.

  2. Personally, I recommend getting a review book early on. You will most likely get one right before the exam, and you'll spend just as much money as if you were to buy it now and use it for the whole year.

From past experience, I think you'll absorb the material easier and learn more if you read the review book instead of the text book.

You should also look into some good AP Euro review sites that are free:
