AP english help for persuasive essay!?

For summer work we were asked to write a persuasive essay about a current event with newspaper articles, magazine articles, and visual texts. However, i cant decide on what to persuade readers on and i cant find many articles to support my topics! I'm thinking about either writing about obesity or gas prices but not sure how to use those topics to persuade readers on! help!! and i need help finding articles to back up my topic! please and thanks!

Obesity would probably be easier to write a persuasive paper on since gas prices are out of our hands. Try taking the angle of persuading readers to avoid obesity (obviously). Find articles on healthy diets, exercise programs, the benefits of being fit (more energy, nicer looking physique etc.) along with the health risks associated with obesity - heart disease, diabetes etc. You should also back up your paper with medical studies and journal articles on the same topics. Your teacher probably should have given you a minimum number of sources required, but if not, I would use at least five.
