im going to be a senior next year and i want to major in chem in college , so for my schedule next year i have 3 choices (in my head):

1) AP Phyiscs

2) AP Physics and AP Chem

3) regular physics and AP chem

what should i do? i know taking even one AP science is challenging but two? especially the two harder AP sciences? i was only signed up for AP physics so far but now im thinking of takin on AP chem as well? i aced regular chem in junior year. im takign regular pre-calculus next year (i kno physics has stuff to do with calc?) help!! how was ur AP chem or physics experience? did you take two AP sciences in the same year?

i know this one girl in my grade, but she is extremely smart, she took AP BIo and AP physics junior year.

goshers, what should i do? im also taking AP economics, AP gov't, and AP literature

  1. Don't do AP Physics AB (the one you would be forced to do since you are only in Pre-Calc) along with another AP science. Physics AB is an incredible amount of work and I just can't imagine someone doing it along with another science. You may want to talk to the Physics BC teacher, some of them start from scratch and reteach their students the Calculus, if your teacher is one of those than I recommend choice 2. If she isn't choice 3 is the way to go.

  2. You won't be able to take AP Physics C if you are only going to be in precalculus next year. If you are talking about AP Physics B, that is only a half-year course and you could probably survive taking both that and chemistry at the same time.

  3. take bothccuz if u r gonna be a senior wat do u have to lose. and since u r majoring in chem u need to show colleges that u took ap chem in at least one of ur years in H.school. i took both ap chem and ap physics last year and i did pretty well on both (in terms of the cllass and sat 2s) and i am hoping for atleast a 4 in both ap exams. chem is harder than physics but both classes are well worth the challenge.

    enjoy and good luck

  4. Well first if you want to be a chem major you should definitely take AP chem.

For AP physics there is actually two types of ap courses, one with calculus and without.  Because you will only be in pre calc you will need the one without.

    Things to think about

-are you good at math in general?

-are you good at word problems?

    -are you good at formulas?

-are you good at drawing/solving problems using Sin/cos/tan & pythagorean them

If all of the above don't seem to bad, you should go for it.  If you enroll in ap physics and feel like its too hard you can always change to physics or drop it all together.  It is much harder to go the other way (decide to take it a couple weeks into the school year)

    Good Luck!
