I am going to be a senior in high school this year and I still have to take one more year of math. Is it better to take AP statistics or pre-calc honors? (my last math class was pre-calc)

  1. i would say AP statistics it would look better on a college application cause colleges are suckers for AP classes

  2. If your last class was Pre-Calc, I'd suggest going for AP Stats. It may be a harder class, but at least you learn some new stuff. From your question, it sounds like you took Pre-Calc non-honors. Pre-Calc Honors is the same course you had last year just going faster. If your school offers AP Calculus though, I'd suggest that over AP Stats. Hope this helps!

    ADDED DETAILS!

Well, the point system is probably what you are referring at. It is the same as my school: Pre-Calculus HP is considered a weighted class, meaning that an A counts for 5 pts in your GPA, B gets 4, C gets 3, and D & F's still have 1 and 0, respectively. The system is exactly the same for AP classes. You may review some Calculus in your Pre-Calc HP class, depending on your teacher. In any case, I still stand by my recommendation of taking either AP Calculus AB, if your school offers it, or AP Stats. Pre-Calc is not accredited by The College Board as an AP class, although schools consider it to be a weighted class.
