  1. Writing an FRQ is really not that difficult, but I know that if it is your first or second, it can be a little intimidating.  All you need to do is take a few minutes to formulate what you are going to write.  My teacher always suggested that you make a rough outline of what you are going to write.

So you know that you need an intro, and ending and approximately three body paragraphs, each being based off of the thesis in the intro.

Let's start by writing a thesis.

The thesis, as I am sure you know, is the most important part of your essay, and it will be based off of your question.

The question asks you three things:

1.)  Analyze the actions of the American Indians and the European colonists.

2.)  See how those actions affected the relationships between the American Indians and the Europeans.

3.)  See how those actions affected those relationships in certain areas.

You chose the Chesapeake and New England Regions, meaning you chose specifically English colonists and

for colonies in the Chesapeake:  Virginia, and Maryland, among some others

for colonies in New England:  New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Now that you know who the European participants are, try thinking of some American Indian participants.

In this link there are some major Native American Tribes (as far as I know, most of them were in the 1600s):  http://www.nativeamericans.com/Tribes.ht...

The last part you need for your thesis is some events that display whether or not their relationship was good, bad or somewhere in between.

Try looking for major conflicts, battles or treaties.  (I would suggest you discuss things like King Philips War, or the New England Confederation).  If these things don't ring a bell, try the following link:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Amer...

To start writing your thesis, basically rewrite your question, and put what you are going to talk about in the next three paragraphs into it as well.

Make sure you discuss three events, or three things that relay how the Native Americans and the English colonists got along in the New England and Chesapeake colonies.

Once you begin to write your body paragraphs, also make sure to introduce them each with one of your events or "things" as I mentioned above.

If this did not make any sense to you, I have included a very good link that should do the trick.  I am sorry, I am just not sure how to elucidate much more out without writing it for you, and I know that wouldn't help you much.

    Good luck!
