I had recenty bought a Bushmaster .223 Ar 15 but being a california resident i was bummed out with the ca legal 10 round welded lower receiver. So a heard i can have any receiver long as i have a magazine lock with capacity no more than ten rounds so i purchased a CMMG lower receiver to replace the welded bushmaster one. I took it in to the gunsmith to let him work his magic and cant wait to see the outcome, has anyone ever experienced this before or heard of any types of malfunction because of this?

  1. You should give these guys a holler.  AR15 nuts who are California residents and have been dealing with this stuff for years.

  2. I have been dealing Bushmaster firearms for a number of years (and shooting them longer) and never experienced a problem other than a magazine malfunction.

  3. Since I don't live in the People's Republic of California, I have never had a mag welded to the lower receiver. But I can't imagine you'd have any sort of problem with it because the only difference is that the magazine is not removable. No other modifications are made to the rifle.
