ARE BLUE AND GREEN EYES A MUTATION!???? IN DNA far back years ago?

i saw some these videos on youtube. are they true. Also it says blue eyes are a step away from being albino..

  1. if i remember correctly

    blue eyes are a mutation that happend along time ago

    and green/ hazel eyes

    are a mixture of both blue and brown eyes

  2. Yes, they are called loss of function mutations.

    Eye color is determined by a number of genes and environmental factors, a lot of which we don't yet understand. But, we do know about the two primary genes involved, B and G.

    If you have a functioning (i.e., dominant) allele at the B gene (so you'd be BB or Bb), then you have brown eyes.  However, if you have two recessive (or mutant, non-functioning) alleles, bb, then it matters what you have at the G gene.  If you are bbGG or bbGg then you have green eyes.  If you have the non-functioning alleles for both genes, bbgg, then you have blue eyes.
