  1. I tried some ice and all it does is dry out my lips. I take valtrex because I get cold sores allllll over my lips. So I use some stuff in a little tub called Carmex for cold sores, you can buy it at any store, walgreens, longs, or any type store like  that in japan, its white and has a yellow cap. its really cheap, like 50cents

  2. See if you can get abreva where you are.  That is the best medication by far.  It is also best to use this medication at the very beginning of a cold sore.  Whenever I get a cold sore I look like a monster  cuz it gets so big!  Abreva stops it from growing big and it goes away much faster.

  3. It will go away in about a week to 10 days with no treatment at all.  The best treatment for cold sores is a prescription medication called Valtrex, and I would think it is available in Japan.

Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores.  We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene.   Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.

There is no over-the-counter medication or home remedy that cures cold sores.  Only time will take care of that.  But there is a good prescription medication for cold sores.  It will make them go away much faster, and as a result of taking this medication you will have far fewer outbreaks of cold sores.

The absolute best treatment for cold sores is a prescription medication in pill form called Valtrex.  It was intended for genital herpes, but cold sores are caused by the same family of viruses, and Valtrex stops colds sores in their tracks.  None of the other treatments come close to the effectiveness of Valtrex, not the ointment Zovirax, and certainly not Abreva or anything else.  Ask your doctor about it to see if you would be a good candidate for this medication.  My doctor prescribed it for me for cold sores about five years ago and after taking it only a couple of times I hardly ever get a cold sore any more, and before Valtrex I was having several attacks a year.  On the rare occasions that I do get one now, it is gone almost immediately when I take the medication - in about a day.    In the meantime, here are a couple of informative links.

  4. The only thing that has helped me get rid of herpes sores quicker is doing everything I can to boost my immune system.  Even Valtrex didn't work for me.  I actually had to stop eating junk food and start taking vitamins, and getting sun, etc...

    EDIT:

The ice trick works best before it becomes a sore...  You know, the day before it blisters, when your lip is tingling.  Remember, it is possible to spread it to other people when it's tingling, so don't kiss nobody no matter how much they may want to.

Seems to me that, once it blisters, it's best to just leave it alone.  Pat it dry after a shower with a separate rag.

  5. here's wat u do take a piece of ice and put it against it. then wash it with hot water. ( note, reapeat this process over a couple of times it should keep it from hurting and make it go away quicker)
