Question:

ARGH. The Red-Ring-Of-DOOM!?

Okay. You know the drill...

My beloved Xbox 360 has decided to die on me.

The 'towel method' (however stupid it seems) works for about 10 minutes but then my Xbox just freezes up and the red ring returns. I really can't afford to buy a new xbox, and I don't think I have a warranty.

Does anyone know of methods that actually work to fix it?

Thanks.

:)

  1. I'm not 100% sure, but I read somewhere that the ring of death is caused on older 360's because the soldering and thermal paste used was rubbish, so yeah, if you're good with soldering and stuff you could try it I guess lol... Easier to send it to Microsoft though.

  2. Yup! Buy a fix kit from me on ebay.co.uk for $11 ish!

It's not 100% guaranteed to work but I would say 98% (not bad odds really!) 1200+ people have fixed their xboxes with my kits. It's simply a replacement for the x-clamps with the right sized bolts, washers and a sachet of thermal paste to replace the awful MS thermal pads + my repair guide is v good with lots of pics and is really easy to follow.

Just look up XBOX_EXPERT on Community page of ebay.co.uk
