  1. Give us some info on your latest games. What is your opening technique. When are you castling, how are you developing your pieces etc.

All can tell at this point is start at with either, E4, or D4, followed by the King/Queen knight for which ever pawn you open up then move the open bishop up to the 4th, or 5th rank.

  2. pay attention to details

    drivEing?

  3. Since you are a beginner I suggest using e4, as you're main opening for now.  You need to study the most common replies to e4, such as: c5, the Sicilian defense.  e5, kings pawn game.  c6, the caro-kann defense. also study the four knights game. and maybe the Vienna. those will All give you a basic Idea as to what you should aim for with e4, and what to expect from your brother.

However, If your brother doesn't use a book opening, as most people will stray from book, then i suggest logically perusing the center, and develop your pieces with a purpose.

The pawn chains you develop will show the direction you attack. Don't commit to weakening pawn advancements. and don't mindlessly develop your pieces. make sure to keep material even at almost all points in time. Of course castling is very important. instead of simply defending, attempt an Active defense. a way of defending and accomplishing more than 1 task at a time. such as attacking an undefended piece and defending your own. However aside from all of these tips, I suggest keeping a sharp eye on the basic tactics such as skewers, pins, forks, and so on.

One thing I'd like to stress of extreme importance is to pay very close attention to your opponents moves, Ask yourself Why did he make that move, is it a threat? Many times people respond to fake threats, or inaccurate moves. Just because your opponent has a plan, doesn't mean it will work. analyze the moves yourself, and attempt to determine if they are a real threat, and attempt to welcome the threats that he does make, so that his attempts are less rewarding.  That is about all I can do for you online. =) Good luck.

  4. Take a really long time on your turn, and costantly talk to him on his turn. It will really annoy him and he will make mistakes.  But will you pick up on them?

  5. try playing in an unorthodox style. You may score a Pyrrhic victory.

  6. I have a great defensive strategey that works if you are white

First move the pawns in front of King and Queen up two each

Then move your bishops so that they are behind the pawns

Then move your knights so they are behind the bishops

Then move your pawns to the left and right of the first two up one space

    Then king side castle

then move your queen out and destroy his world

  7. I know what you mean!!! My brother always used to beat me,so I decided to go to the library and get as many books as possable. And one of my favorite moves that I used to beat my brother AND my dad who is a very good chess player is called the Scholars Mate.If you know chess notation this is how you do it if your playing as white.1st: E2-E4    2nd: F1-C4    3rd: D1-H5 and finally the checkmate! 4th: H5-F7. Checkmate!!! If you do this move on your brother he'll probally bruise his jaw on the floor just like my brother and dad did! Go woop your brother!!!
