  1. yes there are no infantry in the reserves..you must go active duty to be an 11X...you wanna know sumthin soo weird..my avatar used to look identical to yours..the skull, red wings, flag and eerything..

  2. This other guy nailed it. I completely agree. Just to improve on what he said once you finish your training you'll either be assigned as an 11B or 11C so you will not remain an 11X that is just an infantryman who is uncommitted.

  3. Go Guard then, I find it hard to believe that there's no infrantry reserves

  4. By "Reserves" they mean either the US Army Reserves or the Army National Guard.  Both are generically known as the Reserve Component.  So if you serve those two years in the "reserves" and didn't want to re-class, you would just join a National Guard unit that had 11 series MOS's.

  5. Ah but there are 11Xrays in the reserve components if not specifically in the Army Reserve.  Unless things have drastically changed since my time in a Readiness Group there are few to no Combat Arms Units in the Active Army Reserve.  They are all in the National Guard which is also a reserve component.  And an 11X can be place in the IRR where he will not have to attend drills but is subject to recall during a time of need.  Your commitment to the Military is 8 years and the Army will get it one way or the other.  Good luck to you.

  6. Correction - 11 series with an X-ray identifier (Drill Sergeant) are part of the Army Reserve and not the National Guard.  I spent 4 years active as 11B and then went reserves with the 84th Division (now the 100th Division) as a reserve Drill Sergeant.  Did my 4th reserve year down at Fort Benning, GA as a mobilized reservist.  That completed my 8 year obligation (which everyone must do).
