AS Monaco star Chu-Young Park attracting interest from S.S.C Napoli – Ligue 1 news
Reports in French media suggest that Italian Serie A side SSC http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are interested in the services of South Korean International Chu-Young Park.
The 26-year-old striker is currently under contract at French outfit AS Monaco but following the club’s relegation to Ligue 2 after a disastrous 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign, the former FC Seoul striker is keen on making a move away from the Stade Louis II
by the end of this summer.
Initially the highly-rated striker was attracting interest from reigning Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille and German Bundesliga side Schalke 04. However, a move never materialised as Lille chose not to sign the Korean while Schalke shifted their attention towards
Stade Brestois striker Nolan Roux.
Reports in Italian media now suggest that Park is now under the radar of Napoli who are going to feature in the UEFA Champions League in the 2011/2012 season. A fee in the region of six million Euros is believed to be enough in landing the striker’s services.
However, Park would face stiff competition from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073 who were integral members of the Naples-based side’s third place finish in the 2010/2011 Serie A campaign.
Since joining AS Monaco from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Seoul-c39205 in September 2008, Park has scored 25 goals in 91 league games for the Monegasque club. Last season, Park scored 12 goals in 33 games for Monaco but his prolific form was not enough as the Monte Carlo side was relegated
to Ligue 2.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that former Juventus star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ludovic-Giuly-c22617 in a bid to keep himself in a good condition.
However, the 33-year-old is having difficulties in finding a club in France despite his record as a proven goalscorer during his stints in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. Trezeguet scored 12 goals in 30 league matches for La Liga side Hercules Alicante last season
but it seems that no club in Ligue 1 is willing to take their chances on the prolific striker who is nearing the end of his playing days.
