AS Roma manager Vincenzo Montella has heaped praise on Juventus goalkeeper, Marco Storari, for his sensational performance at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in a 2-0 loss to the Turin giants. He acknowledged the shot stopper’s impressive performance on Sunday
which led The Old Lady to a crucial win over the Giallorossi.
Juventus defeated Roma on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome courtesy two second-half goals from Milos Krasic and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 picked up an injury while on International duty. The 34-year-old made
a string of world class saves to deny Roma a goal as the visitors secured all three points in the derby.
Montella admired the former Milan goalkeeper’s performance and said that the Italian made some excellent saves in the match. He claimed that Storari was the only obstacle that stopped the hosts from winning the game.
The manager added that he was not surprised by the player’s performance between the sticks as he has proved time and again that he is a great player and was also a standout player in last year’s derby.
“Storari is a great shot stopper and he made several excellent saves. He's a Juventus player and we weren't surprised by his good outing. He put in a similar superb performance when we met last year,” the Roma coach was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Roma forward insisted that his side has to regroup quickly as they have a tough clash against Udinese in the Serie A next week. The match is of immense importance for both sides as the final berth for UEFA Champions League qualification is up
for grabs. Udinese are placed fourth in the league table, six points ahead of the Giallorossi who currently sit in the sixth place.
“It was an important game for us. We were possibly distracted by the results from the other games. We have to analyse what went wrong and start looking ahead now. The championship isn't over yet and we have another important game coming up against Udinese,”
the Italian concluded.
