AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 manager, Vincenzo Montella, has hailed the newly-crowned Italian Serie A champions, A.C Milan, and believes that they deserved to lift the Scudetto.
A.C Milan needed one point to confirm themselves as the Champions of 2010/11 Serie A and a goalless draw against Roma at Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Saturday sufficed for the Milanese giants. The former Roma striker believes that his team was worthy of more
than one point from the game but Milan’s consistency throughout the season deserved them to be made commendable champions.
Talking to the reporters, Montella said, “What struck me most about AC Milan this season is their consistency. They also have very strong players, and even today they have shown that they deserved to win the Scudetto.”
Milan’s last Scudetto triumph came in the 2003/04 season, when they finished as comfortable winners 11 points ahead of second placed Roma. Since then, the Rossoneri have had a terrible time in the league and even missed out on UEFA Champions League on a
couple of occasions.
On the other hand, Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso believes that his team’s Serie A win has silenced the critics, who believed that the Milan side was too old to win the title. The midfielder is even more delighted to have taken over the Champions title
from bitter rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
“This is a wonderful feeling. They [our detractors] gave us up for dead. It’s even better that we beat a rival like Inter to the title. When there’s this type of passion, you can’t help but do well." Added the 33-year-old
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 midfielder believes that now is the right time to invest in new players, as most of the players have reached their prime and the experienced players will groom the youngsters before they retire.
Gattuso, who joined the club in 1999, was also part of the 2003/4 Scudetto winning squad. The Italian International believes that the Serie A victory will take the club to new heights in the future.
