Chelsea have become the latest name to be linked with AS Roma’s Il Capitano Futuro, Daniele De Rossi. The Azzurri regular’s contract with the capital outfit runs out in six months time, and the player is yet to renew his contract.
De Rossi’s contract saga has long been running with the two parties having failed to agree on a wage deal so far. The fan favourite wants an outright 6 million Euros in annual wages, while the club are willing to pay the amount only after adding performance
based clauses.
The player has refused to give out any hints regarding his future, remaining coy when faced with media.
While talking to media after Roma’s 2-0 win over Chievo Verona, he said:
"I have clear ideas about what I should do, but I prefer not to say them right now.

With Micheal Essien having spent most of the last two seasons on Chelsea treatment benches, the London club are in dire need of a world class defensive midfielder. With 70 international caps to his name already, De Rossi fits the bill perfectly.
However, Chelsea will have to fight it out with the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan and Real Madrid for the player’s signature, as the aforementioned clubs remain long standing admirers of the midfielder’s talents. Real Madrid in particular have reportedly
had two bids rejected over the years.
Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 have also refused to rule out a January transfer for the talismanic midfielder, with 20 million Pounds being deemed an offer too good to be turned down.
It remains to be seen which club the 28-year-old joins, but he is not short on suitors. Lastly, the option of De Rossi staying put in the Italian capital cannot be ruled out either.
