AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603’s Coach Vincenzo Montella relieved with an away win over Udinese - Serie A News
AS Roma’s coach, Vincenzo Montella, expressed his delight over the team’s last minute victory against Udinese in a match played on Saturday, 9 April.
Roma were inspired to a 2-1 win over Francesco Guidolin’s side after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940 netted in a last-gasp winner to ensure Roma’s victory.
Montella lost hope for a win after Udinese striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306 smashed in an equaliser in the 88th minute, but Totti did not leave the manager disappointed.
The 36-year-old manager was all at praise for the Italian international who slammed in a winner past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Handanovic-c32356 in the third minute of injury time. Both goals for Roma were scored by Francesco Totti on the night.
He further mentioned that, "After the equaliser it was difficult to find the determination to pour forward, but we did the same at Lecce and I'm very happy. We also risked losing this game, but this is part of football and I am happy with the attitude of
the players.”
The Manager admitted that Roma has not shown enough consistency during the ongoing season and was proud to see his team make a comeback after performing indifferently during the second half. He said, "Unfortunately, we hardly ever manage to maintain the
same intensity and quality for an entire match, but when you see this determination in the second half, then it means the team spirit is there."
Montella joined the La Maggica as a care taker manager in February 2011 after Claudio Ranieri resigned from his job. As a manager, Montella, has a 50 percent win record so far, winning 4 of the 8 games in charge.
AS Roma are currently sixth in the Serie A with 53 points and once again have fallen back in contention to finish in the top four. They are just three points short of the fourth placed Udinese and both teams have six games remaining in the season.
Roma has been the Serie A winners on three occasions, the latest being in 2000-01 season. It is expected that Montella would get a full time contract with the club after producing some favourable results since taking over.
