Remi Garde’s side further consolidated their lead at the top of the table following Olympique Lyonnais’ Derby du Rhone win over Les Verts at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday, December 8, 2012
Olympique Lyon player ratings
Remy Vercoutre (5)
The experienced French shot-stopper didn’t really have to much in a rather dull encounter. Except from being alert after a bad pass from Milan Bisevac and a few customary stops, the Frenchman hardly moved a muscle and must have struggled to keep himself
warm at the Cauldron.
Anthony Reveillere (7)
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international gave a commanding display in defence and in offense and did well to keep Saint-Etienne’s forward Gradel. The right-back was positioned very high down the right flank and his good performance warranted a goal.
Milan Bisevac (6)
The former Valenciennes defender, apart from a poor back pass to Vercoutre, was a solid presence at the back for Les Gones and kept Les Verts’ hitman, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at bay.
Samuel Umtiti (6)
The young defender had an almost perfect night in hostile territory and did well to keep Aubameyang quite for most part of the game. And, it was the youngster’s provocations that resulted in the expulsion of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alonso-c5254.
Dabo (3)
The former Seville man had a fairly decent outing down the left-flank although he was less offensive that Reveillere. Expelled for a ridiculous lashing out scene with Gradel, Dabo committed a stupid mistake that could have cost his team dearly.
Maxime Gonalons (6)
Since the start of the derby, the young Frenchman was in the thick of things and looked like a man on a mission with his excellent passing and precise tackling.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steed-Malbranque-c33957 (7)
The Derby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Rhone was the Frenchman’s first game for Les Gones after signing a contract extension and the former Fulham man did not disappoint at all. As usual, the experienced winger showed his technical mastery against Les Verts and was also a big help
to his defensive partners. Calling him a revelation of the season is indeed right considering the fact that Malbranque was nowhere near a football pitch last season.
Clement Grenier
The youngster’s first start in the Derby du Rhone came to an unfortunate end in just the 12th minute of the game as he was stretchered off the pitch in tears. The young midfielder made good use of the ball before being replaced by
Gueida Fofana (5.5) who was not as offensive as his teammate.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoann-Gourcuff-c37416 (4.5)
Unlike his previous games, Yoann Gourcuff spent most part of his derby in a discreet fashion. Positioned on the left side of midfield due to an injury to Grenier, the France international was unable t o become a source of danger for AS Saint-Etienne apart
from good transfers.
Bafetimbi Gomis (6)
For the first time in a few games, the mercurial striker was unable to find the back of the net but that does not mean that Gomis did not play poor. Up against his former employers, the France international tried to make full use of the small spaces he found
but was up against a solid defence before being replaced by young Yacine Benzia in the 87th minute.
Man of the match
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461 (6.5)
Following the red card to Dabo, Remi Garde chose to introduce the Brazilian in the game who, after only four minutes on the pitch, opened scoring for his side with a powerful freekick. Even after the goal, the winger was keen to do more for the team and
has now put in a strong case for a starting spot to Remi Garde.
