The Rhone giants have reportedly taken a lead over the rest of clubs for the signature of Caen star Romain Hamouma who is eager to play in Ligue 1 next season
Since the transfer window opened, the never-ending twists and turns in the soap opera French football has come to know as Romain Hamouma has not ended. The French winger, who is currently under contract at Stade Malherbe de Caen, is not willing to play in
Ligue 2 next season after his side was relegated last season.
However, his club’s owners are proving to be tough dealers for clubs who wish to sign the player. The likes of LOSC Lille, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 and Bordeaux have been touted as possible destinations for the talented player albeit slow pace of negotiations.
However, reports now claim that it is AS Saint-Etienne who are set to beat all rivals to the signing of the 24-year-old player. While talking to Le Progress, ASSE president, Ronald Romeyer claimed that his representatives are currently negotiating with the
player’s entourage and added that he is optimistic about his side’s chances of landing the highly-rated midfielder.
“We are still negotiating and it’s going well. The player really wants to come and he is often on the phone with Christophe Galtier. We’ll see if the situation is cleared by July 15 and if the transaction can be completed. I’m pretty optimistic.”
However, despite such a major breakthrough, Les Verts should not count their chicken before they have hatched. The Stephanois club needs to sell a few players first in order to sign a new one. Furthermore, the Rhone giants are not going to break the bank
to sign Hamouma.
The former Sochaux man scored 2 goals and provided two assists in 31 Ligue 1 games last season and is held in high regards at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are also keen on signing the player and if Les Phoceens are able to sell a few players, they will have enough cash to invest on a player who despite having a lot to prove, has all the talent in the world to become an integral part
of any Ligue 1 side.
