AS Saint-Etienne sign Stade Rennais midfielder Fabien Lemoine – Ligue 1 news
French Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Etienne have successfully signed Stade Rennais midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabien-Lemoine-c13141. Les Verts have signed a four-year contract with Fougeres-born midfielder.
Saint-Etienne have signed several players since the start of the transfer window this summer including AS Monaco goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier, Sunderland midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sinama-Pongolle-c33606.
Ambitious Les Vertis started their 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign with a win 2-1 win over FC Girondins de Bordeaux at Stade Chaban-Delmas and are keen on making a mark in the top positions of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 season.
The 24-year-old midfielder is a product of Stade Rennais youth academy, and first appeared in the senior team in 2008. Lemoine has played over 100 league matches for Rennes and has scored once.
Lemoine is still serving suspension and is not eligible to play this weekend’s match against AS Nancy-Lorraine. Lemoine will be hoping to get regular starts for Saint-Etienne alongside Jeremy Clement and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Josua-Guilavogui-c19585 as he only appeared in 18 matches
with 7 starts for Stade Rennais. Not given much play time, he had filed handed in a transfer request at Rennes two years before the end of his contract.
In an interview, the former Rennes midfielder said that his decision to leave Route de Lorient was easy to come by.
“It was my eleventh year at the Stade Rennais, I feel a little twinge of sadness as I prepare to leave my second family. But when you reach a certain age, it’s also good to leave the cocoon. Today, I’m in Saint Etienne and I want to make my mark in an ambitious
club. And I’m delighted.” He said.
The central midfielder from Brittany is good at passing the ball with accuracy and his ability to project the ball over long distances makes him an excellent midfielder. He will be an additional asset at Saint-Etienne.
Les Verts signed a seventh player since the start of the window and are looking forward to strengthen their midfield and win their first French championship since 1981.
