AS Saint-Etienne star Blaise Matuidi opens door to a move to Paris Saint-Germain – Ligue 1 news
AS Saint-Etienne star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Blaise-Matuidi-c7681 has said that he is open to a move to Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain amidst rumours that the 24-year-old is a top priority for the ambitious side from Paris this summer.
Following the retirement of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Claude Makelele, Paris Saint-Germain are in need of a replacement for the legendary defensive midfielder. The Parisian club’s direction sees Blaise Matuidi as a perfect replacement for Makelele and
has been linked with a move for the player in recent weeks.
For now, the transfer activity of Paris Saint-Germain is stalled due to ongoing negotiations with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan several
weeks ago but has not been officially declared as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director of Les Parisiens.
Paris daily, Le Parisien asked Matuidi regarding his future with Les Verts. The highly-rated midfielder said, “PSG is attractive, there may be others (clubs) but Paris is a club that can attract any player. They have a good project.”
However, the 24-year-old also admitted that so far, the club has not made any concrete offer to Saint-Etienne.
Another fact that should be taken into account is that the Stephanois club have set the bar high to sell midfielder. Les Verts are looking for 13 million euros plus 2 million euros in bonuses for Matuidi and as long as the Saint-Etienne direction doesn’t
change its stance, a move might never materialise this summer.
However, Blaise Matuidi is not shocked or angry at his current club’s stance. The youngster said that he will respect the wishes of the direction and reiterated his desire to continue his adventure at Saint-Etienne if a move does not materialise.
Blaise Matuidi signed for Saint-Etienne from Troyes in 2007 and since then, the Toulouse-born midfielder has made 132 appearances for the Rhone-Alpes club.
Though Matuidi has said that he is happy at the club, nothing can be guaranteed for now. In the 2009/2010 Ligue 1 season, Les Verts barely avoided relegation and after the season ended, Matuidi expressed his desire to leave the club while giving an interview
to L’Equipe.
With so much interest generated from France’s capital it’s hard to see Matuidi stay at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. The 24-year-old might leave the club this summer if things at PSG settle down in terms of the appointment of Leonardo as the sporting director
of Les Parisiens.
