AS Saint-Etienne to take their chances on Andre-Pierre Gignac and Anthony Modeste – Ligue 1 news
Reports in France suggest that French Ligue 1 side, AS Saint-Etienne coach Christophe Galtier is keen on adding a couple of strikers to his squad and is keeping his eyes on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 striker Andre-Pierre Gignac and FC Girondins de Bordeaux striker
Anthony Modeste.
Galtier wants to improve on Les Verts’ great start to the season that include two wins and one draw at home to Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille this week. Reports now suggest that the French tactician feels that bringing a new striker to the squad would
help the club a lot in terms of maintaining a good position in the Ligue 1 standings.
Andre-Pierre Gignac is one of those players who might be moving to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard this summer. The 25-year-old signed for Marseille last summer but after failing to impress Les Phoceens in his first season, has fallen down the pecking order
and is third choice behind Loic Remy and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098.
However, Galtier is not looking to sign the France international on a permanent basis and is more inclined on bringing the former Toulouse man on loan. However, it has been reported that Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is willing to give Gignac another
chance to prove his worth to the Rhone giants.
Reports suggest that Galtier will explore other avenues if he fails to strike a loan deal for Gignac. Bordeaux striker Anthony Modeste is one of those strikers whose profile has impressed Galtier. The 23-year-old striker signed for Bordeaux last season and
scored 10 goals in 37 games for a Bordeaux side that spent some part of the 2010/2011 season mired in the bottom half of the table.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Under-21 international was impressive during his loan spell at Angers in the 2009-2010 campaign where he scored 20 goals in 37 games. The promising striker might also be interested in moving to the Rhone-Alpes club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morocco-c2961 international Mounir El-Hamdaoui is also a target but the Ajax man could be on his way to joining Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille instead which means that Galtier should conserve all his efforts in signing Modeste who is a promising talent.
