Speaking in general terms here, my vision is approx. 20/2500 uncorrected. My eye doctor said my vision actually improved some this year. In fact, without my corrective lenses, I can see the detail of a person's face some two feet away (as opposed to not being able to at all this time last year). Is this a sign that my eyes are stabilizing? I've never had this happen before.

(My dad is just as nearsighted and in his "mid-30s", he said, his sight improved a little before it stabilized and it's never worsened or gotten better since.)

  1. I used to be nearsighted but my prescription is only for my astigmatism now. My eye doctor said that as you get older nearsightedness can correct itself or in your case i guess just improve.

  2. I used to wear glasses when I was a child but now I don't have to. Yes, sight can improve over time with a proper diet. Resting your eyes helps too.

  3. There's a good chance you just had too much power in your old prescription.  I see that all the time.  Based on the prescription, you'd think your eyes are "getting better", when in reality you just had an inaccurate old prescription.

  4. Then it's probably genetic/hormones.  I've heard of eyesight improving with proper hydration and certain supplements.  Have you maybe changed you diet and not known other health benefits as great side effects?

  5. Bizarre but true:

My eyesight improved slightly after being diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic and working to control my blood sugar.

Wouldn't hurt to have your family doctor check.
