ASAP!!! -Going to a TV show recording; upscale attire???

Question

We're going to the recording of "Are you Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" very soon and we're confused about the dressing instructions that say"fun, colorful, upscale attire is requested". Do they actually intend for us to wear formal suits and pants? (says no jeans, no white, etc.).

Yes. They want suits. Audience managers pick seat fillers based on clothing, and they always want formal wear. When a show gets to the point that it doesn't need to hire seat fillers, they still want the same clothes. Even so, they probably won't kick you out if you do wear jeans. ;)

Sounds like smart casual, to me. Maybe a shirt which is as bright as you can cope with and some pressed trousers to match? I think that's the kind of thing they wear on the British version.
