We're going to the recording of "Are you Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" very soon and we're confused about the dressing instructions that tell us to wear "upscale attire". Do they actually intend for us to wear formal suits and pants? (says no jeans, no white, etc.).

  1. I think a pair of nice pants and a nice shirt is what they're after.

  2. It sounds like they mean business casual, like dress pants and a nice shirt. No jeans or sneakers.  The no white has to do with the cameras and the lighting and the reflection it will have showing up on the air when the show is on the air.

Dress like you would going out to dinner to a nice restuarant.  You don't have to dress to the nines, but like you would go to work, or on a date, nice but NOT formal.  You can wear a skirt, dress pants, a button down shirt, a sweater, a nice top, anything that you would wear to a casual restuarant or to work.  If you wouldn't wear it to a job interview or a nice restuarant, than don't wear it there.

Just pick out something you would wear for like a day out to dinner with your family, or a special occasion dinner with your family.  Like when going out to dinner for Mother's Day or an Anniversary, that kind of thing.

I hope this helps and that you have a great time!  Enjoy the show!

  3. Im guessing they mean shirts that say "**** you" and "a*****e" because those are colorful words. And pants that sag.

  4. sounds like you should wear a nice collared shirt and a tie, with slacks.

  5. It's business, dressed to kill attire.
