    EDIT:

    You shouldn't make up a sign on your own without checking what it means first...because what you sign might mean something totally different.  When you sign "depressed" your body language should express the severity of the emotion...that's true ASL.

  3. i would guess the best way is to sgn each letter out

    If there is a sign for mental sickness may use that first so they get what tract you are on. I took a cruise with a group of deaf people and they were so much fun to be arround. hope to do it again

  4. I would finger spell the word in question.  If there is a sign, the deaf person you are trying to communicate with you will likely demonstrate the sign.  A good way to approach it is to sign:

    Sign How? Then finger spell Bipolar.
