Question:

ASVAB Score 80 sounds low. Good enough for Special Forces?

So here's the skinny. I got an 80 on my ASVABS and it sounds low to me. I plan on doing a 12 month deployment then coming back to go through Special Forces Training.

I really don't know if 80 is good enough? Any comments?

  1. The ASVAB is not a score it's actually the percentile you rank in. So according to the military you are smarter than 80% of the recruits. I joined the Navy with a 52 and they calculated 3 line scores to see if i was eligible to try out for SEALS and i was eligible. So i guarantee with an 80 you will meet the minimum requirements. Almost everyone you talk to will embellish on there ASVAB score, believe me  an 80 is far above the average persons score "which is 50." Not to out do you but i recently took the ASVAB again to transfer into the Coast Guard and i scored a 99, but I have since acquired an Associates degree and studied for the exam this time. You can always take it again later on. The military will let you take it once a month as long as you have taken an educational course since the last time you took it. Great score and good job though.

  2. Well you need a GT score of around 105, but with an 80 i'm sure you got at least a 110.
