Question:

ASVAB Score Question?

I originally scored a 52 on the ASVAB when I joined the Navy six years ago, I just retook it and scored a 99. I am currently trying to join the Coast Guard... Will they greet me with open arms now that they know I scored a 99?

  1. Well, I don't know how they treat prior service in the USCG, but a 99 should help! I know there are no waivers. So if you have a RE-1 or 2, perfect health, and a 99 on you ASVAB, you should be good to go. The USCG only needs 1,000 people a fiscal year. They normally meet their recruiting goal in the spring. 2. Not necessarily.

The Coast Guard does not really like to take prior service.

If they need the rate you had in the Navy, you stand a better chance.

But if you are trying to change your job,

Then you are just like every other prior service.

Prior Service enlistments take a reenlistment slot.

    Not a regular enlistment slot.

And every service would rather have one of their own, reenlist, than bring in someone from another service.

So, yes, they will like it, but no where near as much, as if you had not been prior service.

  3. congrats a 99 is perfect, if the coast guard didn't take you would be stupid. the coast guard???? really, there like the baby navy. i bet for you to make the switch it wouldn't be that hard.they will surly be happy that you switched.

you go ahead and switch to the baby navy if you what. guys in the real navy are sexier anyway. i think its the uniforms

  4. Sure

  5. Anyone should take you with a 99 since that's a perfect score.
