Question:

AT&T Call Blocker Service: Why are so many numbers not blockable by this service?

I get telemarketers calling here all the time which is why I subscribed to AT&T Call Blocker Service (this is in Texas). But when I try to program in the number I want to block, I almost always get the recorded message, "I'm sorry...but this number is not available for use with this service"....

So what gives? Why are some numbers blockable but others not? And what is the criteria for what numbers can be blocked?

[P.S. I already wasted one hour on hold with AT&T today talking to mindless computers and being bounced around and disconnected and being given bad information by service agents who couldn't answer a simple question regarding another AT&T Voice Service. Therefore, please don't advise me here, "I don't know...Call AT&T" as I've been there, done that, and would like to avoid another meaningless hour of frustration dealing with this labrythine monster of a company. Someone here on Y!A with experience may have the correct answer much faster than AT&T would. HA!]

  1. yes, I know what you mean! yes, I had the same problem with AT&T!!!

the phone numbers I was trying to block could'nt be blocked, its just drove me nuts!! I was trying to get rid of all the 800 numbers and such.....so, I got myself this little gizmo....and all is fine now....I think that AT&T blocking service is just false advertising!!

there is only one thing you can do.....get a caller ID manager...!
