Ok, so I've been on a family plan since April 07 and my phone stinks. I was lookin' the other day on our account and it said that I was eligible for an upgrade on October 11!! That's only 18 months. All the other phones are eligible January 11. So I'm confused, does that mean I get an ugrade that soon? And do I pay the new contract price for the new phone I want on upgrade? How much discount will I get? Thanks!!

  1. When it says you'e eligible for an upgrade, then you get to pay the price of the phone with a NEW two-year or one-year contract.  For example, the lg shine with a new two-year contract costs $50 after discounts and a mail-in rebate, but if you dont want a new contract then the phone would cost $275.  If you don't want a new contract then you have to pay full price for the phone you want.

  2. Your line is most likely listed on the account as the primary line, making the monthly service higher than the other lines on your account.  For this reason, AT&T will let you upgrade sooner because your line is more valuable to the company than the added lines (each $9.99/mo).

And yes, you will get the subsidized upgrade price with a new 2 year agreement.
