Question:

AT&T TV thru phone or DSL Line? Anyone heard of this? Chicagoland availability?

I've heard that there is TV available thru either DSL or phone (or both) lines. Is this available in the Chicago area yet? I recently switched to AT&T DSL no voice, which is cheaper than having a phone line just to be able to get the internet for a computer. But, what's this TV thru At&t without having to need a sattelite dish? Does anyone know how it works? How new is it? ANd, is it going to be available in the Chicago area and suburbs? As costs for no voice DSL are so low. I'd bet they could offer tv without a sattelite dish thru the DSL or phone line really cheap too. I've read that tv via internet is the next big thing in tv and internet. Do I need to have a phone line (I hand a DSL line without a phone now) to have AT&T TV without needing a dish? Does anyone know what I'm asking?

  1. at&t U-verse or U-niverse service (dont live in at&t territory so i dont recall the exact name of the service) is the same as verizons FiOS service...

it is not thru DSL or thru the phone lines, it is a FTTP (fiber to the premise) service.

ATT and Verizon are only a year or so into getting the fiber optic cables installed, the service WILL be available in a majority of there markets within the next 5 years. You need to check with ATT to see if your area is wired yet.

  2. The TV goes thru the phone line. The service is called

AT&T U-Verse. I believe the greater Chicago area has it.
