I was wondering how they set it up. Can you get it if you live in an apartment? Are is it something with the wiring.

  1. They should be able to give you service in an apartment.  The determining factor is the physical "wire distance" from the nearest "node".  ATT is adding more nodes (boxes on the side of the road) all the time.  That is one problem with U-verse; it's high speed data and it can't go very far.

So, if you are within the maximum distance from the nearest node, you should be able to get service.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

  2. Yes you can usually get it if you live in an apartment.  U-verse is very high speed DSL that is fiber optic cable to a cabinet called a VRAD and then it uses the copper phone wires from the cabinet to your home.  AT&T normally will connect your DSL line to the coaxial cable that your cable tv used to use or they can run CAT 6 to your Residential Gateway, this is like a cable modem and router.  Since U-verse is a DSL service the distance from your home to the cabinet determines if you can get the service and how good your service will be.  I have heard that the maximum distance that you can be from the cabinet is 3,000 ft.  Here is a good site where you can find out some more information http://www.uverseusers.com/.
